Masaaki Suzuki in concert in Madrid on 16, 17 and 18 March
Masaaki Suzuki will conduct the Spanish National Orchestra for the first time in three concerts performing the ‘Elijah’ oratorio by Mendelssohn at Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid on 16, 17 and 18 March, accompanied by Rachel Nicolls, Anna Stèphany, James Gilchrist and David Soar as soloists.
Masaaki Suzuki combines his career as a conductor with his activity as an organist and harpsichordist, considered an authority on Bach’s work. He performs regularly in the main concert halls and festivals of Europe, building a solid and exceptional reputation with his expressive refinement and the veracity of his performances.
He directs Bach Collegium Japan, an ensemble specialized in baroque music that he founded in 1990. Founder and Professor Emeritus of the early music department at the Tokyo University of the Arts, he is the principal guest conductor of Yale Schola Cantorum.
